Star Wars against natural order?

So today I was having a conversation and it became quite the dispute. The topic was Star Wars, more importantly, the ridiculous order in which the movies were released. If I'm not mistaken, I believe they were released as episodes 4-6, then 1-3. Now my friend said that made perfect sense, but I simply called him crazy. I argued that the story progressed as 1-6 so that's the order that they should have been released as, but who knows. If anybody has any insight on this, please comment.

  1. I didn't know this, I agree that this is slightly confusing!

  3. Fair point but George Lucas was making it up as he went along

  4. Now that they are all playing frequently on TV here, I'm not sure which one to watch first though I've seen them all before

  5. It may not seem conventional but it worked out well.

  6. Producers are putting out prequels for movies all the time. It's a good money maker.
